Photographs taken by Ethelbert Watts for the expedition sent out by the Imperial Academy of Science, Leningrad, for the excavation of the Mammoth found in the River Berezowska, in 1901. The collection includes photographs of the skeleton mounted in the museum in Leningrad.

Horace G. Richards (1906-1984) was a geologist at the Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia and an authority on the geologic formations of the Atlantic coastal plain.
